Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest passenger car company, hiked its vehicle prices by up to Rs 20,000 across all its models and with immediate effect, PTI reported on Monday.This is Maruti’s third price hike his year.
“This price revision is based on factors like, segment-wise demand, forex movements and strategic objectives of the company,” a Maruti spokesperson told PTI.
The newly launched compact SUV Vitara Brezza will cost Rs 20,000 more and the new premium hatchback Baleno will now cost Rs 10,000.
On a select range, the price hike will be between Rs 1,500 and Rs 5,000, Maruti Suzuki India said in a regulatory filing.
The last time Maruti hiked prices was in March, when it raised the cos of its vehicles across models by up to Rs 34,494, to offset the impact of the infrastructure cess that was proposed in the Union Budget 2016-17.
Before that, in January, Maruti hiked prices of its vehicles across models by up to Rs. 12,000. At the time, it was joined by others like Honda, Toyota Kirloskar, Tata Motors and Skoda who also hiked prices.
