Japan growing square watermelon

Last week, President Barack Obama signed a law which says that you’ve to write a label on each genetically modified food items. He said that, these square watermelons (image) aren’t genetically modified.

So, how do they grow them square?

It’s simple. When the Watermelons are small, they put them in a square strong basket. As the watermelon grows, they take a shape of the square basket.
Why did Japanese do that?
Spherical Watermelons takes more space, and they aren’t easy to store or transport. But if we can have cubicle watermelons like the shown above, we can store them easily and have more numbers in a limited space.
That increases efficiency, a little.
